About CMYKme

CMYKme is an online portfolio for me, Daniel Cureton Williams, a Graphic Designer from Chester.

CMYKme is a showcase of my work both through projects worked on whilst in employment as well as my work completed during my Graphic Design course at University of Derby where I was awarded my Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Graphic Design.

My creative career began whilst at school where I always has an understanding, passion and creative flare for art. It was upon finishing my A-levels and through the inspration and guidance from my art teacher that I decided to focus on the design aspect of the creative industries and whilst completing an Art Foundation course at college I found that my passion had directed me towards the graphical side of the industry.

Following on from this I then achieved my Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honours in Graphic Design at the University of Derby. During my 3 year course I got the chance to work on many briefs both live as well as those set wthin the course. During my course I completed briefs for companies such as Ted Baker, Rolls Royce and The Times as well as creating my own briefs to study as major projects.

Whilst studying my three years in Derby I undertook a Freelance Design roll within a Web Design company in Chester. Upon leaving University I was offered a full time position as Graphic Designer within Reckless New Media.

When I started at Reckless New Media my web knowledge was none existant. However, within the company I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to learn and develop Web Design and Development skills that are now strong enough to produce hgh quality, usable websites within the company. A combnation of self-teaching as well as bugging the other developers has progressed my skillset to obtaining a knowlwedge and understanding of HTML, CSS to a high level.

Recently, to accompany my skills in these areas I have been teaching myself SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) techniques as well as basic PHP.

Personal Life

I have many hobbies and interests away from the obvious geeky lifestyle of a Web & Graphic Designer. I have a keen interest in photography and in the past have been lucky enough to work on an Award Winning episode of Coast for the BBC.

I also enjoy many sports and activities to keep fit and healthy. I have started running as the main source of keeping healthy and each yeah take part in the Liverpool Santa Dash, a 5km run around the streets of Liverpool. This is in December so it is normally very cold but great fun! So far we have managed to raise over £400 for various charities through the Speedy Santas website. I first created this site so that I could explore and develop my Web Desgn and Development skills as well as a good site to start my SEO techniques. The site has grown and changed design several times. It has been featured on a wide range of CSS showcase sights.

Music plays a big part in my life, my taste spreads across a wide range of genres and artists and I will listen to pretty much anything and give it a go. There are a few albums that have had a large influence on my life:

I am also a keen follower of football and am a proud supported of Everton Football Club and can often be found singing from the terraces through our turbulent seasons!
